The Patient
CCRG has access to about 100,000 patients in areas of stable domicile. Each CCRG investigator is in possession of the full medical history of each research patient. Patients are not referred to third parties for assessment.
The advantages include:
- relationship & trust between patient and investigator
- informal screening especially for opportunistic studies during morning, afternoon and evening surgeries, five days/week
- formal screening from practice computers
- retention in studies with low drop out rates: this may be due to the patient having easy access to the investigator and the patient being reassured and counselled during the trial during the trial.
- low 'screen failure' rate
- safety (knows patients' previous medical and treatment histories) and safety updates can be quickly generated in context
- assessment at home if necessary
- each patient has 24hr mobile contact number of investigator.
